Our History

1920: Charles J. Huber founded C.J. Huber Glass Co. in his backyard.

1920s: The first commercial operation opened in Kenosha, WI.

1940s: Russel Huber, Charles’ son, took over the business.

Late 1950s: Russel Huber expanded the business with a second location in Waukegan, IL.

1958: Russel purchased Handy Glass Co. in Janesville, WI, and renamed it Huber-Handy Glass Co.

Early 1960s: The business was sold to Edmund (Sr.) and Harriet (Huber) Madison, and renamed City Glass & Key Co.

1973: The company was sold to their son, Edmund Madison Jr., and his wife, Linda, and was renamed City Glass Company Inc.

2015: Laurie and Steve Ott became the owners, with Laurie having joined the company in 1993.

Present: City Glass Company Inc. continues to operate in Janesville, WI, serving Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
